Nassau Yacht Club: New Flag Officers Elected

The Nassau Yacht Club welcomes its new Flag Officers, duly elected at the Annual General Meeting held on Monday November 29th, 2010.

Swiss national and Bahamian resident, Thierry S. Huguenin is the newly elected Commodore of the Nassau Yacht Club. Thierry joined the Club in 2004. He then served as Rear Commodore, Honorary Floor Member and for the past two years as Vice Commodore. Thierry is a sailor since he was eight years old. His dedication to the sport of sailing and particularly junior sailing is well recognized. Thierry is a fervent supporter of membership clubs, he runs his own businesses in general aviation and public relation and communications.

Miami Nassau Ocean Race 2010

Nassau, Bahamas October 25, 2010. The Nassau Yacht Club is in the final stages of readying itself to receive well over 100 international sailors, and yachts competing in the much heralded annual Miami to Nassau Ocean Race.

With the continued support of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the 2010 event is scheduled for an 11am November 11th start off Government Cut in Miami, with the highly competitive crews sailing 176 nautical miles non-stop across the unpredictable Gulf Stream, leaving Great Isaac and Great Stirrup to starboard on their way to the finish at the entrance to Nassau Harbour. Lively Conditions At Star Western Hemisphere Championships

The first race of the International Star Class Western Hemisphere Championship 2010 was started in 16 knots of breeze and seas of 3-5 feet with a forecast to build. The triangle-windward-finish-downwind course provided some wild reaching in Montagu Harbour in the Bahamian islands.
