The first race of the International Star Class Western Hemisphere Championship 2010 was started in 16 knots of breeze and seas of 3-5 feet with a forecast to build. The triangle-windward-finish-downwind course provided some wild reaching in Montagu Harbour in the Bahamian islands.

The Star Class Western Hemisphere Championship returns to one of its favorite venues, The Nassau Yacht Club and the great winds of Montague Bay. The Star Class has held two World Championships and a dozens WHC in Nassau, Bahamas. The consistent winds (20 knots plus!) and huge waves are a paradise for Star sailors. Surfing down 12-foot waves in big breeze is exhilarating!! Planing a Star for 200 meters and more is an experience Star sailors savor. Nassau, Bahamas February 24, 2010. After a year of intense planning and preparation, the Nassau Yacht Club is in the final stages of readying itself to once again welcome the International Star Class.
The Western Hemisphere Championship 2010 will commence with a packed opening reception on Monday April 12th. Racing will begin in earnest on Wednesday April 14th with competition proceeding through Saturday April 17th. Races will be sailed in the area known as the Douglas Roads off the eastern end of New Providence, which boasts the signature clear blue waters of the Bahamas against a backdrop of the surrounding islands and cays.
